Ownership to the information published by site members

Post by Kai Summers » Thu Aug 06, 2009 5:43 pm

I would like to know a few more details on your right of ownership to the information published by the members of your site. I am talking in terms of referencing relevant posts from your site into a book I am currently compiling. (Reference credit will be given for any quoted information)

If you would like any more details from me please don't hesitate to ask.

Best Regards

Kai Summers

Hi Kia, I have no issues with the information that is posted being used in your book, this is a public Forum and the information published here is open for everyone to see. As a matter of curtiosy it would be good to PM the person who typed the message to make sure they are happy with what they said.

However the pages on the mother site and extracts from my own book (Novel) cannot be used with out the Permission of Falkor my self MJ12CZ and also the writer if different.

I will just confirm with Falkor and should there be any changes to what I say i'll post it here.

I am a great believer in sharing information and are only too happy to help you with you on your venture... best of luck. :D

Emmm, as this is a free site where people freely share their experiences and points of view then that is in keeping with the site and its' policies. If, on the hand, someone, such as you, is going to publish what's written by the people here for your own potential profit then that is obviously a totally different ball game altogether. in regard to the right of ownership, here is my own view

as many members will know, we have a PREMIER AREA on the forums called "UFO SIGHTINGS"

this area is for the members to post THEIR OWN personal, first person sightings

NOTHING ELSE is allowed in this area

third person sightings ARE WELCOME but go to other areas on the site
as far as I am concerned - these are the only topics where we have a specific and obvious right to "ownership"

these topics are ORIGINAL material on the forums, further original material is also contained in four static pages on the main (mother) site:

http://www.ufoforums.co.uk/about3.html < "What is a UFO?"

http://www.ufoforums.co.uk/about6.html < "Inside a UFO?"

http://www.ufoforums.co.uk/about4.html < "I Space"

http://www.ufoforums.co.uk/about8.html < "Philadelphia"

Patrick and I are seeking more such original material from any member who has the time/ inclination to come forward

I think Merlyn some people look at him as some sort of Hero, someone looking for thruth, (between you and me the UFO this I think is rubbish) where others look at him as a computer hacker who just got sloppy and hacked the wrong systems and got caught.

As i have said it before I think he should do his time in the UK and not be sent to the USA. However I'm not saying he is innocent.

I wonder how many other companies systems he has hacked? You don't just start off at hacking the USA's systems. Its hackes like him the produce, design and spread viruses they can cause total chaos... even the Php message board you are looking at can be hacked and destroyed.

the sad thing is that although that is true, the way in is always via a weak point on the site that has nothing to do with the php board :oooeerr: e.g. the blog the site has (was used as the entry point the hacker took advantage of) :narked:

well internet security is a personal responsibility that each of must bear

it's surprising how many people don't bother to renew their Norton subscription (or wahtever) to save money or they don't even bother to run a full scan even once a month :narked: the cost will be high and it will hit

I think you might have meant WEB security

luckily on here we just have phpBB3 and the host's software

nothing else

phpBB3 is pretty much fireproof and the host's software is covered by their own protection so what's left?
you find that very often when a site has been hacked, they have introduced third party software onto the site that has allowed a route in e.g an outdated PHPList installation (which we don't have) :wide:
