UFO at the bottom of the Baltic Sea
UFO at the bottom of the Baltic Sea
Sceptics expected that a deep-water dive would debunk the slew of extra-terrestrial theories surrounding an unidentified object sitting at the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
But the Swedish expedition team that took the plunge surfaced with more questions than answers - and certainly no solution to its origins.
By Meghan Keneally UPDATED: 09:37, 18 June 2012
The divers found that the object, which some have likened to the Millennium Falcon because of its unusual round outline, was raised about 10 to 13ft above the seabed and curved in at the sides, giving it a mushroom shape.
'As laymen we can only speculate how this is made by nature, but this is the strangest thing I have ever experienced as a professional diver.'
The soot also proved cause for concern for Mr Lindberg's colleague on the Ocean X explorer team, Stefan Hogeborn.
'During my 20-year diving career, including 6,000 dives, I have never seen anything like this. Normally stones don’t burn,' Mr Hogeborn said in the release.
'I can’t explain what we saw, and I went down there to answer questions, but I came up with even more questions.'

Re: UFO at the bottom of the Baltic Sea
How come I've never heard of this before, this is incredible!
I hope it's not just another unusual rock formation or ship wreck...
The article is quite funny, I especially like the subtitles of the last two images:
"The sonar picture of the unidentified object resembles the famed Star Wars ship the Millennium Falcon" and "Tourist trips: Diver Peter Lindberg is hoping to take wealthy tourists down in this submarine to see the object"

Re: UFO at the bottom of the Baltic Sea
See that is the part that is heart stopping, it skidded along the path before stopping???Hefty trajectory: The Swedish diving team noted a 985-foot flattened out 'runway' leading up to the object, implying that it skidded along the path before stopping but no true answers are clear

Re: UFO at the bottom of the Baltic Sea
haha
great clip of the Millenium Falcon in that vid
love that

'UFO' at the bottom of the Baltic Sea 'cuts off electrical equipment when divers get within 200m'

By Eddie Wrenn UPDATED: 07:26, 27 June 2012
The divers exploring a 'UFO-shaped' object at the bottom of the Baltic Sea say their equipment stops working when they approach within 200m.
Professional diver Stefan Hogerborn, part of the Ocean X team which is exploring the anomaly, said some of the team's cameras and the team's satellite phone would refuse to work when directly above the object, and would only work once they had sailed away.
He is quoted as saying: 'Anything electric out there - and the satellite phone as well - stopped working when we were above the object.
'And then we got away about 200 meters and it turned on again, and when we got back over the object it didn’t work.'

I wonder whats going to happen next?

Re: UFO at the bottom of the Baltic Sea
well how deep is it down? surely that is the main difficulty factor

it's the size of a 747, it skidded along 300 meters on the sea bed before coming to rest and it's been there 50+ years, amazing casemj12cz wrote:Its interesting what is coming out about this one...

Re: UFO at the bottom of the Baltic Sea
unfortunately the internet is beset by fakes
Re: UFO at the bottom of the Baltic Sea
I'm not sure what to make of this story (the picture is obviously an artists impression) as the original press release only tells of a cylinder shaped object, 197 feet in diameter, and at a depth of approximately 275 feet.
It goes on to say... “We need to know what we’ve found. Media has been speculating about everything from UFO’s to Russian space ships. What we know at this point is its size and shape and we also know, based upon the sonar image, that there is a ridged tail going from or to the cylinder shaped anomaly of about 3 800 feet throughout the bottom of the sea, ”said Peter Lindberg, one of the professionals at Ocean X Team.
This is totally at odds with the Daily Mail story
It seems to me that if Mr. Lindberg wanted to find out what this is, he has means to find out, but he also has a vested interest in keeping the speculation going.
Another one bites the dust...

Re: UFO at the bottom of the Baltic Sea
did you know that THE TITANIC sank into very deep water?
and how far down is this "UFO"? 275 feet?
I guess the actual problem is "apathy" - nobody believes it
so with THE TITANIC a full TWO MILES (yes TWO MILES) below the surface all kinds of recon missions HAVE still been possibleThe fundamental problem was the sheer difficulty of finding and reaching a wreck that lies over 12,000 feet (3,700 m) below the surface
A number of expeditions were mounted to find Titanic but it was not until 1 September 1985 that a Franco-American expedition succeeded.[181]
The team discovered that Titanic had in fact split apart, probably near or at the surface, before sinking to the seabed. The separated bow and stern sections lie about a third of a mile (0.6 km) apart in a canyon on the continental shelf off the coast of Newfoundland.
